Begin with the room
The architecture sets the first constraints: floor tone, available daylight, ceiling height and the visual weight of surrounding objects. A dark timber can anchor an open plan room. A pale oak can hold scale without dominating it.
Choose boards, not names
Species tells only part of the story. Each board has its own figure, colour and proportion. We select boards together, then decide how their grain should travel across the finished surface.
