The idea
A long plane held on two weighty forms. The top is deliberately quiet; the end grain and changing daylight do the talking.
Construction
Made from the inside out.
The base is resolved as part of the structure, not applied beneath it. Allowance for seasonal movement is designed into the concealed connection points.
Finish
Made to be touched.
A low-sheen hardwax oil protects the surface without closing the grain. It can be renewed in place as the table ages.
